7 Tips for an awesome composite deck install
Fake Wood?
It’s taken awhile, but it seems that composite decking has finally become accepted by the masses. While it ain’t ‘the real thing’, it has certainly come a long way from the early days when it was clearly plastic pretending to be wood. The technology and designs have improved vastly since the first composite decks we did back in the early 2000’s. Today there are a lot of great options to choose from and the installation methods have been greatly improved.
Our favorite decking choice
We tend to like the colors, textures and patterns from Timbertech. We’ve done plenty of Trex too and there isn’t a big difference between them in terms of cost, quality or installation. One thing we are absolutely sure of is that we like the Trex hidden fasteners way better than Timbertech’s. Trex fasteners are easier to install and allow us to ‘tune up’ the decking after install to deal with the normal expansion and contraction (more on that in the video below).
