Vancouver Sun Room Addition
We got a lucky break in the weather and were able to get the exterior painting done in order to finish up the project before Thanksgiving as planned. Our clients have already used their wood burning fireplace and have started to fill in their bookshelves. They love the room, especially the ceiling and beam details. We’ve really enjoyed this project- great clients and some challenging framing and woodwork. Doesn’t get any better than that!
Washougal Kitchen Remodel
Another challenging and interesting project is nearing the end. Over the past two weeks we’ve installed cabinets, white quartz counter tops, appliances, lighting and plumbing and painted inside and out. Most importantly, Jason filled in the tile above the cook top with tile carefully removed from the area where the new wall oven is. This was perhaps the most important task of the whole project and Jason did an awesome job.
All that’s left is to buff and final coat the hardwood floor, cut the butcher block to size and final clean up. Our clients are really liking the open floor plan and their bright and light kitchen.
Washougal Shop with Apartment
Aka ‘The Garage Mahal’
The drywall taping was finished and texture applied. Next week we’ll put a first coat on the walls and two coats on the ceiling before the hardwood flooring is installed beginning December 5th.
Speaking of the hardwood, kind of a cool story on it. Our client is a sawmill engineer who works on mills all over the world. He purchased the Hickory flooring for the apartment from one of his clients- an Amish mill in Ohio. It was shipped here a couple weeks ago and is currently acclimating for a couple more weeks before install.
Brush Prairie Kitchen, Exterior, Etc
We started a new project consisting of a full kitchen remodel, master tile shower remodel, adding several hundred square feet of hardwood flooring, interior paint and trim, carpet and replacing a substantial portion of the exterior trim. Not a room in the house is unaffected. Job #1 was to get the kitchen ready for the new cabinets being delivered the first week of December.
We started work on the exterior trim. There was some rot visible on the outside, but you never know what you’re going to find until you tear it off and see how the window was prepped. On this home, every window was prepped differently (who knows why). The first window was prepared well and had no rot behind it. The other windows, not so good. As you can see in the photo, there was quite a bit of damage to the sub-siding. Fortunately, so far there hasn’t been any damage to the framing.
While the guys were busy with the exterior work, the electrician and plumber did their thing. We revised the can light and pendant layout to work better with the new cabinet plan and relocated the island plumbing. The drywall got underway and will finish early next week.
