Downtown Vancouver Kitchen Remodel
Opening up a small kitchen
We’re currently planning a kitchen remodel to start in January 2017 in a very small 1920’s home near downtown Vancouver. The main floor is currently a series of small and completely separate rooms. We want to open up the kitchen to the main living area by taking out the wall the separates it from the front room. The existing kitchen is tiny and poorly laid out. In fact it’s so small that our clients have to use an apartment sized fridge! This won’t do
Existing
Here’s what it looks like now as you walk in the front door.

Proposed Design
Here’s what it will look like when we’re done. This view was generated on our 3D CAD program. We’ll be playing with some different counter and back splash materials as well as paint colors to help our client visualize some different options. You can see where the new glu-lam beam will be between the dining and kitchen space. We’re going to keep the lath and plaster and the existing crown molding intact.
Key features
The new kitchen will have:
- Pre-painted custom cabinets (to the ceiling) with shaker style doors, full extension soft close drawer slides, wine storage, tray storage and a pullout trash bin
- Solid quartz or granite counters and full height tile backsplash
- Undercabinet LED lighting
- LED recessed lighting
- Hardwood floor to tie in to existing
- New appliances
- Full height pantry cabinet with rollouts
