Project Homestead #14 – Finishes

It’s all coming together now!

Since our last post in September, the siding and roofing have been installed on the outside and the finishes have begun to come into focus on the inside.  Very exciting indeed.

The gorgeous cedar channel siding fits the home design and surroundings of this site beautifully

Les and Tom knocked out the standing seam metal roof (about 5500 sf of it).  Fortunately, though the roof is big, it’s not cut up (although their hands probably were from working with the stuff).

Inside, our Vancouver WA based painters Miguel and Tony from Servellon’s Precise Painting have been busy painting walls, finishing the interior doors and staining the ceiling beams.

Our tile installers, Steve, Barney and Jay of Syverson and Son’s, from Battle Ground, WA are nearly finished with the two honed slate tile showers.

The cherry cabinets from Cabinet Designs Unlimited of Camas, WA were installed, and the stone counter top template was taken by American Marble and Granite of Camas, WA.  The slab counters are being fabricated as I write and I hear they’re going to be something pretty special.  Not surprising since our client John is a geologist.  No run of the mill granite is going to cut it!

Finally, after all of the hard work it’s time for a dinner of fresh crab.  Tony the painter is pretty reliable in the seafood acquisition department.

The catch of the day

We’re about 4 weeks from completion.  John and I correspond by text quite a bit and in a recent one I asked him if it’s all worth it and if he’s liking how it’s turning out.  His response?  “It’s a bleeping awesome house!”.

Gotta like that!
