How we did it
This project is a great example of taking a builder grade vanilla house and turning it into a stylish family home that feels like it was designed just for our clients!
This remodel was done in 3 phases over 5 years. We stayed within the original footprint and only made minimal, but highly impactful, changes to the layout.
Phase 1
Kitchen
We filled in the weird arched opening between the kitchen and dining room and removed the awkward corner walk in (more like ‘squeeze in’) pantry. The allowed us to claim more space for cabinetry, efficient storage, and a better overall layout.
Family Room
We added a large double sliding patio door facing the greenspace beyond the backyard which gave better access to the deck and let in way more natural light.
Feature wall
A bold blue painted paneled feature wall in the Family Room added serious pop
Fireplace
New custom built-ins for storage and to hide the TV, art lighting, and a wood mantel.
Flooring
New LVP flooring throughout the main floor to help the space feel more cohesive
Phase 2
Stairs
We replaced the sheetrocked half-wall railing with a modern steel and wood cable rail
Kid’s bath
Updated with a new vanity, tile, and accessories.
Laundry Room
Updated with built-ins, sink, stacked washer and dryer, and fun wallpaper
Flooring
New LVP flooring to match downstairs
Phase 3
Master Bath
Improved the layout by swapping the tub and shower locations. New freestanding soaking tub and custom tile shower. New rift cut white oak vanity and accessories. Large format porcelain tile floor
Now our clients have a home that truly reflects their unique style. It was a blast working with them. It goes to show with the right vision you can take a pretty standard builder grade suburban home and turn it into something special!
