Situated on a quiet stretch of the Lewis River north of Battle Ground, this interior remodel brought new life to a dated home that had great potential but an outdated layout and finish palette. Designed by Sandi Erdman of Sandi Erdman Design (then part of the Kashas Design Build team), the project transformed the kitchen and great room into an inviting, connected space for cooking, entertaining, and everyday living.

The remodel centered around a full reconfiguration of the kitchen and adjoining great room, along with two reimagined fireplace fronts, a new walk-in pantry, and a wine bar that’s centrally located between the Kitchen, Dining, and Living Room, perfectly situated for entertaining a large gathering or an evening for two. One of the standout features is the Australian Beech herringbone floor — a striking, warm-toned wood that anchors the entire interior with warmth and character.

Builder’s Note

“It’s rewarding to take a home like this, and see beyond the dated materials, to what it could become. This home had a solid framework and incredible natural light, but it needed an update that reflected the caliber of home it is and how the clients really live. Sandi’s design gave the home a sense of refinement and cohesion that wasn’t there before. The herringbone floor, which only came about because the species of the adjacent wood floor is no longer legal to source, became the focal point that ties it all together in a way that feels intentional and timeless.”
